Evaluation

The title of my film is called  "From the deep within".I chose this title because the concept of my film is not your normal stereotypical film; the title is a constrast to the character "Obinna" .The character is an Afrcian doll finding herself in a foregin country also realising she is human again. As the film is not a normal concept however it is creative. The genre of my film is "Fantasy" due to the story been about magic and supernatural powers the based God oracle turning the character Obinaa into human. I did not use a lot of props because i did not want to lose focus on the concept of the film and the props i used was a teddy bear.
The clothes the character wore was made to fit into the concept; the character in the beginning was dressed in a pink and white top and blue denim short this was to show the viewers that the doll is girly and in the second scene the character is shown to be wearing a orange top with a scarf to suggest she has now adapted to the weather of the country she is in and this is when the character is shown speaking to her based god.
The first music played in the background is soothing yet builds tension fading out to the first shot with an medium shot of the main character obinna then a close up with the camera zooming out showing the character waking up and realising she is human again and she completly baffled on what to do and her only solution is going back to sleep.
It flash-crosses in to the second shot of the animals surrounded with a fence  this illustrates the main character obinna trapped in another country and she feels alienated but she seems to make a connection with the animals. However the last shot music is a little bit up tempo and mysterious aswell this is a contrast to what's taking place in the scene; the camera angle used is a long shot shot then zooming in to the teddy bear were Obinna left it next to her based God.The camera then cross cuts into the character waking up realising it was all a dream.
Making this film helps me explore my creative quriky ideas. It also allows me as the director to protray a concept that could relate to other teenagers who feel alienated when they visit another country they're not use to. Through my character obinna i was able to portray that she wasnt hapy with the situation she was in we see her attempting to fit in by her sense of dressing but when she was speaking to her based God the oracle she spoke in her native tongue. This could reflect on any foreign teenager or adult who finds it hard to adapt to a new habibitat. An example of a popular movie that shows us an insight on how to adapt into a new place is the movie Avatar were we see Sam Worthington who plays Jake Sully trying to adapt with the people of Pandora .
The media institution that would be be best to distribute my product to his BBC and Channel 4 because my bbfc rating is 12A and BBC and channel 4 tend to produce shows targeted to that specific auidence. This will enable the viewers to watch it online via 4OD,BBCIPLAYER and Youtube  if permitted. I chose those media institution because it give independent production company alot of oppunturnities and they have a wide range fan base so the views will be high in number. My BBFC rating is 12 A because i think younger teens and above can relate to feeling alienated in places they have never been before.
Throught survery monkey i was able to put out questionairs and surveys for my auidence to tell me what genre they're most likey to watch. The information gathered was useful;most of the people who answered the survery prefred Romance and Comedy. However i decided to go with fantasy i did not feel like doing the normal stereotypical opening sequence. I done an analysis on the movie "UP" the opening sequence was able to capture both characters through the happy times and the sad times by cross cutting which made me explore through different transition you can use when editing a film.

The feedback i got for this opening sequence wasnt that much as i kept on changing my ideas. However the little feedback i got from friends are its "weird" and imaginative. Promoting a film is the hardest part when th product is ready i would promote it through social network i.e facebook, twitter, tumblr, blogspot and so on and to add to that i will also create a trailer to generate a buzz around the film to get the auidence excited about the release of the film.

The equipments used was really basic to make sure i would get everything right. I have learnt that technology plays a big part in the world in terms the way things can be captured and be viewed to a global auidence. The equipment used was a fuji film s4500 and the software used to edit the film was the final cut pro on Mac . As this is my second time producing and editing a film i think i have progressed from the preliminary task i done. I am now able to take the right shot at the right angle.Learnt the basics of fading the music in and out and making the shots go well with the rest of the shots

Opening Sequence -From The Deep Within

Improvisation

Whilst editing my opening sequence i realized that the opening sequence was to long so i had to change some parts i.e camera angles and a bit of the story line.

Characterization

Obinna : An "Africain doll" that has been purchased and brought into another country to discovers that shes able to breath and communicate with humans because she's human herself . She is known as the high queen in the doll world but in real world she finds it hard to know what she is and how she got here. She tries to fit in by dressing like the humans but she's not pleased with herself and she prefers her natural habitat. She visits the forest to ask her supposed God to change her back.

"Supposed God"-oracle-orisha: Is Obinna's creator; determines whether Obinna should be back with the Africain dolls or the big world filled with humans.

My offcial opening sequence-From the deep within

I decided to start all over again because i wasn't quite pleased with old film ideas i came up with and the feedback from friends and family was not good; some of them found it cheesy. So i have decided to switch it up i have done a lot of research on short opening sequence and i'm planning to stick with this one.

STORYLINE

The Africain doll discover she's brought and taken into another country and now she's able to do things that she's not able to do

My opening sequence will start with an extreme close up of a doll then slowly zooming out crossing cutting into the doll having a life, the doll will realize that she is able  breathe and communicate with others and the camera follows her to her finding her creator . She tries to get use to her new self  but she's fails and the only way for her to go back to normal is going back to her natural habitat "The forest".  With an establishing shot of the forest and a tracking shot of the character walking slowly toward her "Supposed God" she chants and chants in different language which will be translated in English on the screen. The razor edit will be used for the character to have a flashback of her been trapped in a box to signify how she feels then a 180 camera angle to ensure the narrative continuity. The character visits that same spot at the forest everyday on until her "supposed God" changes her back to the "Afrcain doll". Whilst coming back from the forest she discovers a place were she can see dogs/foxes and she begins to cry (close shot) stupidly and she begins to chant with the dogs and from there she falls asleep.

Cross cutting into another scene of the character walking out of the house making her way to the forest this will be her final day and if she doesn't change back she will have to be a human forever.

Opening sequence Analysis -UP

“UP”, a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Friedricksen, who finally achieves his childhood dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. The film starts with a close up on the two first  young main characters and a extreme close shot of a leaflet which creates suspense on what adventure the two young characters are going to get up to.As the scene builds up  a small amount of cross cutting was used to  show the two main characters has developed into adults and getting married.

During that scene a diegetic sound was playing in the background to create a loving atmosphere for the audience to connect to the characters in the sequence. An establishing shot was used to cut into the scene of the couple's new house with an extreme long shot of the husband holding a box of things this was used to show the landscape of the house  then cutting into another scene with a close shot of a tool that the wife is using to cut wood to signify that they have to repair their new home. Another close up was used to show the drawn dream house switching to an establishing shot of the real dream house. It then cuts into the couples walking up a hill by using the dolly shot to move in and out of the scene.

A dolly shot was used again to cut into another scene were we see the two main characters go from been happy to been sad and miserable with a close shot on the husband face showing the emotions of the character  to draw the audience closer and involve them in what's taking place. A variation of close, medium and extreme shots was used through the course of the sequence this was to create audience engagement with the thoughts of the characters. A tracking shot was used when both characters was in the car when it broke down.

The opening sequence was fast paced in the start in terms of showing the two main character childhood having the best time of their life and then slowly things starts  going wrong for them this draws the audience even more to feel remorse for the two main characters.

Survey Response

Unfortunately i only had 12 responses. I used surveymonkey to find out what the target audience find more appealing

With my survey i was able to find out that the viewers liked comedy and not much of a thriller fan

RENEWED :COMPANY NAME AND LOGO

I have decided to change my company name because i was not satisfied with the logo and the name sound tacky. And i came up with "DOUBLE E Production" this will be my official company name; the logo is more neat and appealing.

Double E stands for Everything IS Everything

This will be displayed on my coursework and my opening sequence.

Underwood-Opening Sequence

The film will be about a town called Underwood  with 5 teenagers struggling with the stereotypical  teen problems e,g break ups, friendships, family and popularity.

Opening sequence: The film will start with the narrator voice : Some stories never really leave us…
There was once fairy tales, they where gruesome and sad and in the end everybody died. They taught children lessons, never to go into woods, or to talk to strangers. Like anything they evolved, death and tragedy where replaced with laughter and happily ever after. But as anyone knows, everybody dies. So what happens when the stories we think we know are real, when there is a place like no other, an island in a faraway land, where everything comes together. In a land full of mystery and stories what is real and what is fantasy?
This is Underwood, these are their stories, and there is no point leaving.
